I think lip gloss is beautiful because it gives lips a light but sultry look. It also comes in so handy when completing a smokey eye. Lip gloss is perfect because it doesn't add another dramatic colour to the lips, so that your face doesn't look like a colour wheel. But I don't know why, but I've always preferred lipstick over lipgloss.
But, there is always something about lipstick that seems very classy to me. When I think of lipstick, I think of full, matte colours. I think of people like Kate Middleton and Angelina Jolie, both seem very beautiful, classy and original.
Plus, lipstick lasts so much longer. It's also easier to apply in a way. Gloss needs a lot of care and maintenance. I totally sound like I'm anti-lip gloss but just wait until you see how many lip glosses I have.
When it comes to lipstick, my ultimate prized possessions are my Lancome lipsticks. Lancome cosmetics are so qualitative and they apply perfectly, 'like a dream'. The ones you see in these pictures are the Lancome L'absolu Rouge. A really cool thing about them: The cap closes on the lipstick with a magnet, so there is no risk of the cap coming off, meaning no ruined lipstick or makeup bag!
On the Lancome website, the lipsitck shades have names, but my lipstick shades are mentioned in numbers, along with a strange looking code. I don't know why... so sorry about that! I will describe them though.
From the L'absolu Rouge series, the first lipstick shown shown in picture is the #47. It's the most pink. It's not dark, but it has a considerable hint of red. The overall tone is very coral, and it's perfect for a bold lip without being too red. It reminds me of summer:
The second lipstick is a beautiful brown. It has a slight orangey undertone, making it a very light and wearable colour. This shade is very evening-esque and romantic. Reminds me of autumn. It's in # 11:
This Lancome shade is closest to Revlon's 'Rose Velvet' >
The third colour, #06, is almost a lighter version of what I've just described. It's corally, light, a very modest pinkish-brown. I think this is my favourite. Reminds me of an afternoon picnic with flowy blue dresses and a little bit of romance.... I'm very imaginative ;)
My second Lancome lipstick (#11) is actually very close in colour to the next lipstick I'm going to mention, which I use a lot. This is the Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick, in my favourite shade 'Rose Velvet'. I don't know why I'm very attracted to these kinds of shades. I haven't been able to muster up enough courage to wear lipstick shades that are farthest away from my natural lip colour:
As you can see, I've used a lot of it. The tube is old. But, it's closest to my lip colour. It does not look apparent, but fills lips in perfectly.
Moving on now to ..........l i p g l o s s < Oh wow I love this font, WHYYY haven't I used this in my entire blog? Anyway.....
I'm really into the MAC "Lipgelee" series.
I don't know what to call this product, because on the back of the tube the name also goes under 'Clear Colour Gloss', but this sounds more like the description of the product. It probably is. Ignore this lol.
This is a very deep pink shade, with red and brown undertones. I have many tubes of the same shade, which is "JellyBabe". I like this gloss a lot, because it fills in lips to make them look smooth, crack-free, and very conditioned:
My next favourite lip gloss is from once again Lancome. Their "Juicy Tubes" line is very popular. The shade I have is #45, or "Candy". This lipgloss is described to be an "Ultra shiny Hydrating Lipgloss". I actually find the sensation after application (no rhyme intended he he) to be very sticky. The feel is not as comfortable as the MAC LipGelee. That being said, the Lancome Juicy Tubes smell DIVINE, and absolutely enticing. I've never wanted to eat my lipgloss until I came across this line from Lancome. My particular shade smells like bubble gum:
The (second) last lip product I want to end with is my favourite, one that I've been using for a while now.
I love the silver tube... keep on reading to find out what brand it is! |
Here is my Avon Glazewear Diamonds Lipstick review.
The shade I have is "Lustrous Berry."
It is a beautiful deep red with hints of pink, brown, and even purple. I like it because it's buildable. I dab lightly for a stained sheer healthy lip, or I apply it directly for a full colour. It's a lipstick, but applies & looks like gloss. It's berry-licious, and I recommend this product and shade for everyone.
In order to add more dimension to my lips, before applying gloss or lipstick I always line my lips with my Bonnbell Lip Definer in the shade "Mocha". The shade is perfect and looks beautiful underneath most of my lip sticks and glosses. I sometimes even wear it on its own. It's a light brown with pink undertones. It also helps with making my lips look fuller and larger:
Horray for beautiful, kissable lips <3
